Well I guess we get to toot our own horn for a bit. On February 11, 2011, The AAF | Mid-Missouri (the Mid-MO chapter of the AAF) hosted the 2010 ADDY Awards.

All of us here at Delta Systems are very pleased to announce our awards received at the 2010 Mid-Mo American Advertising Federation ADDY celebration. We walked away with a Gold in Interactive Consumer HTML for our work on Baumgartner’s Boone County Ham, a Silver in Interactive Business-to-Business HTML for CloudSMTP, and a Gold in Interactive Self-Promotion for our very own JustCallDelta.com. We were also very honored to be presented with the 2010 Best of Interactive award for the Boone County Ham website.

All the winning websites are powered by WordPress which allows Delta to provide unparalleled client-powered maintainability to the sites. The client can directly update their content, images, forms, add more recipes (using custom post types) and even update their pricing and order forms without needing to know any HTML.

The New BluecherryDVR.com site prominently displays software system features and visuals

Bluecherry was looking for developers to help with building v2.0 of their impressive DVR based video security system when Delta Systems tripped across their job opening at indeed.com.  After an initial query asking if they needed any development help in the interim, before they found the right full-time employee, the discussion quickly gravitated to the need for a new website design and functionality improvements.

Need some temp help programming? Nope, but we need website improvements

Sure, Curtis Hall, Bluecherry’s owner, and his guys could have made the updates to the site themselves. However, they felt it was time for a more consistent and professional look to the myriad of sections they have on their website. They were, after all, looking for more developers – so no one had time to update the website.

Delta Systems designed, cut, and implemented a WordPress template. They then turned to improving the eCommerce and SEO components of the site.

The cherry on top (sic) was the operating system detection feature that automagically figures out what operating system you are on and selects it from the list of platforms on which the software is designed to run.

About Bluecherry

Bluecherry  began 2004 with a goal of providing high quality Linux supported video capture cards.Bluecherry’s original product line was focused on software compression cards using the generic ‘bttv’ Linux kernel module.  In 2010 Bluecherry released its free (GPL) driver for its line of MPEG-4 (hardware compression) line of audio video capture cards.

Bluecherry also develops a commercial surveillance application under the name ‘Bluecherry’.  This software is an Ubuntu based application that records audio and video and includes many features you would typically only find in commercialized Windows applications.  Bluecherry is actively working on version 2 of its software which will support several major new features such as a cross platform client interface, network (IP) camera support, and improved optimization for the server backend.

Missouri Grand Prix Swimming Competition Website

The 2011 Missouri Grand Prix is the fifth annual swim competition held in the Aquatic Center at the University of Missouri. World-renowned athletes like Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Natalie Coughlin will be coming from all over the US to compete. With that in mind, the Missouri Grand Prix came to us for a website befitting this Olympic precursory event.

Will we see some world records broken during this premier swimming event?  It’s happened before.

Once the Missouri Grand Prix gets underway, the site will become an information hub for the media and a social media hub for fans to track their favorite athletes as they compete.

Built on WordPress

Using the WordPress Content Management System, we were able to give the customer the full control and flexibility they needed to instantly update their content as new information came in. We customized the system to allow them to enter event information, news updates, athlete bios, photos and competition results on the fly. We even gave them the ability to create and customize their own web-forms to collect information from their numerous volunteers.

The RMI Center for Wine Economics was having an issue with their website and content management system. There was a security hole that allowed attackers to exploit their system by defacement and malicious upload. Terabytes worth of file transfers were happening within hours. Delta Systems was able to secure the system and move hosting under Delta’s control. There is still work to be done in implementing a more advanced content management system to better suit their needs, but the Mondavi Institute is pleased to be back online. Delta Systems is also pleased to be trusted to host a University of California – Davis website.

Danny started The Roasterie in the basement of his Brookside home in November 1993, but his passion for coffee began in high school when he spent a year in Costa Rica as an exchange student. Since The Roasterie’s inception, Danny has become a sought-after expert in the ever growing coffee industry. He has judged cupping and barista competitions all around the globe since 1995. In his final position, Danny was responsible for an entire industry segment, with sales in excess of $80 million. Danny was born and raised in Denison, Iowa, and is the middle of 10 children. Nitse was named dean of the Steven L. Craig School of Business at Missouri Western State University, effective July 1. Dr. Nitse is the first permanent dean of the Craig School of Business. Before joining Western, Dr. Nitse had been at Idaho State University since 1993, where he chaired the university’s marketing department. His academic achievements are grounded in sales and sales management and he has experience in retail, service and industrial organizations, having served in those roles for United Technology Carrier, Mass Merchandisers, Inc., Georgia Pacific Corp. and Value Fair Discount Stores prior to pursuing his advanced degrees. Dr. Nitse’s research interests are in competitive intelligence, health care marketing, knowledge management, e-commerce, environmental scanning and marketing management. Dr. Nitse received his doctorate and master’s degrees.
