Delta Systems was proud to sponsor the 2011 Boone Dawdle. Once again, our contribution was the creation and management of the online ticket purchasing and reporting system.

This is one in a series of efforts that Delta Systems has committed to the Columbia, MO born True/False film festival.

A Short History of the Dawdle

In the summer of 2010, True/False decided to create a new event to accompany their annual film festival. On August 21st, 2010 the First Annual Boone Dawdle took place, consisting of a bike ride from Columbia to Rocheport, followed by a local food picnic hosted by Les Bourgeois vineyards, and a screening of documentary film “Best Worst Movie” accompanied by its director and star.

Paul Sturtz and David Wilson have graciously allowed Delta Systems to work on the technical stuff with some of their amazing volunteers.

To manage the first ever Dawdle successfully, True/False asked Delta to create a ticket purchasing and reporting system. The system allowed multiple passes to be purchased at once, handled payment processing seamlessly, empowered the festival staff to manage content, and provided powerful reports to help staff manage the logistics of the event.

All of us here at Delta Systems are very pleased to announce our awards received at the 2010 Mid-Mo American Advertising Federation ADDY celebration. We walked away with a Gold in Interactive Consumer HTML for our work on Baumgartner’s Boone County Ham, a Silver in Interactive Business-to-Business HTML for CloudSMTP, and a Gold in Interactive Self-Promotion for our very own JustCallDelta.com. We were also very honored to be presented with a People’s Choice and the 2010 Best of Interactive award for the Boone County Ham website.

The New BluecherryDVR.com site prominently displays software system features and visuals

Bluecherry was looking for developers to help with building v2.0 of their impressive DVR based video security system when Delta Systems tripped across their job opening at indeed.com.  After an initial query asking if they needed any development help in the interim, before they found the right full-time employee, the discussion quickly gravitated to the need for a new website design and functionality improvements.

Sure, Curtis Hall, Bluecherry’s owner, and his guys could have made the updates to the site themselves. However, they felt it was time for a more consistent and professional look to the myriad of sections they have on their website. They were, after all, looking for more developers – so no one had time to update the website.

Delta Systems designed, cut, and implemented a WordPress template. They then turned to improving the eCommerce and SEO components of the site.

The cherry on top (sic) was the operating system detection feature that automagically figures out what operating system you are on and selects it from the list of platforms on which the software is designed to run.

About Bluecherry

Bluecherry  began 2004 with a goal of providing high quality Linux supported video capture cards.Bluecherry’s original product line was focused on software compression cards using the generic ‘bttv’ Linux kernel module.  In 2010 Bluecherry released its free (GPL) driver for its line of MPEG-4 (hardware compression) line of audio video capture cards.

Bluecherry also develops a commercial surveillance application under the name ‘Bluecherry’.  This software is an Ubuntu based application that records audio and video and includes many features you would typically only find in commercialized Windows applications.  Bluecherry is actively working on version 2 of its software which will support several major new features such as a cross platform client interface, network (IP) camera support, and improved optimization for the server backend.

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers has partnered with Delta Systems for over 10 years. In the early days, Debin Benish trained Carrie Paden and her staff on the use of Microsoft Access.  Seeing that their time would be better spent on serving their thousands of members, SABEW turned to Delta Systems to build a membership management system, a conference management system, and a system to handle the hundreds of entries they receive to their annual “Best in Business” (BiB) contest.  The latest iteration of these systems is now online at SABEW.org. Members can now renew their membership directly online, view member-only content, as well as submit entries to the BiB contest as well as handle the judging all online.

Delta Systems used a unique blend of off-the-shelf and custom designed systems. WordPress was used to handle the front end content displaying. A custom WordPress plug-in was built to handle the image carousel on the homepage.  Another custom WordPress plugin was built to handle the contact form.  The site also directly integrates RSS feeds from Talking Biz News and several other business journalism related blogs.

This week the Columbia Missouri Chamber of Commerce wrapped up their 2009 fundraising campaign.

With a goal of $475,000.00, the teams of volunteers were able to bring in 104% of that goal – raising $495,940.60.

During the campaign almost 100 volunteers were divided into 4 divisions and sold various products the Chamber has to offer including: new Chamber memberships, assigned membership renewals, Board of Advisor memberships, sponsorship opportunities, advertising and trades.

The 2009 campaign had 647 products for sale or trade. From this, 859 contracts were sold and approved.

Top sellers during the campaign will receive a trip to South Beach, Florida in January 2010.

The funds raised during the Total Resource Campaign are important to the Chamber because they enable the Chamber to continue to provide quality programming, networking opportunities, community and business advocacy for their city, county and state and allows them to maintain the criteria desired of a nationally recognized 5-Star Chamber of Commerce that  members have come to expect.

Last year, as the fund raising campaign deadline approached, sales were falling short of the goal by almost $25,000. This set off a barrage of phone calls and email inquiries to the Chamber staff as dozens of volunteer salespeople clamored to find out what was still available to sell.  The problem was eradicated this year with the use of the EasyTRC Total Resource Campaign Management System.

  The Columbia Chamber of Commerce website is now hosted by Delta Systems. This site’s availability instantly rocketed from 80% to 100%. Soon we’ll be improving some usability, printing, and design/layout issues as well.
• SABEW.org
  The Society of American Business Editors and Writers website (SABEW) is now also on our servers. This site will now enjoy greater editing and content management capabilities.
• IYNAUS.org
  The Iyengar Yoga National Association website was built and is hosted by Delta Systems. IYNAUS is now able to do online membership management and invoicing as well as provide online product sales through a custom built eCommerce solution.
• DirectWelcomeHome.com

The new site was put online in stages. The first module to go live was the online invoice payment system. Second, a yoga teacher locator was put online so potential yoga students could find studios in their geographical area. Next, an online store was put up with a completely custom shopping cart and order fulfillment system since this member organization has products sourced from the United States and India and specifically wants to provide items to members (as a benefit of membership) and not necessarily the general public.

Future modules will involve online assessment and certification for different teaching levels.

How Delta Systems Helped

Delta Systems developed the member management system, online store, and online membership payment system. Delta is hosting the site as well. Content was provided by the IYNAUS board of directors and site design was done by a third party.

SoccerPro.com is a leading online soccer equipment retailer

SoccerPro.com needed some help improving the shopping experience on www.soccerpro.com.

SoccerPro.com owner Tony Marrero called on Delta Systems to help improve the shopping cart and checkout process as well as improve the speed and product search and listing capabilities of the website. Some search engine optimization (SEO) practices were also needed in order for the site to become more “Google friendly.”

Delta Systems was able to improve upon and extend a third party ecommerce solution to allow Tony and his staff to more quickly and easily handle several aspects of their online store while providing a better experience for their customers.  There is still more work to be done, but abandoned shopping carts have dropped significantly, sales are way up, and Google is aware of 2,580 pages while Yahoo Search is aware of a whopping 7,819 pages located on www.soccerpro.com. This lead SoccerPro.com to a daily average increase in sales of 300% (versus 2006′s holiday season) with several days topping 600% increases.  Tony even had to cancel a few meetings with us because of the surge of orders needing to be filled.

The Show Me State Games online registration system was recently updated by Delta Systems to use a new online payment processing system adopted by the University of Missouri.

Delta Systems worked closely with university personnel to make sure the system went live by the deadline. Delta also improved the security and mechanics of work done by a previous consultant. The new process was certified as secure for ecommerce transactions and was pushed live. The same process was done for the SMSG Shape Up Missouri challenge.
