Phase one of Media Outlook‘s online presence has gone live.

Delta Systems created the site in WordPress and incorporated the client’s pre-designed logos. The Media Outlook sales managers can easily add more locations to their integrated Google Map without having to call us.

This will be helpful as they quickly grow to dominate the Midwest.

Media Outlook also has a secure area for their sales team to quickly record initial sales interviews and complete Advertisement Order forms. That data is stored in a database so it can be directly integrated into the on-site media content delivery system in a future phase of development (no silly emailing of the form and then re-entering it into Excel or Access and then redoing it all when ).

Well I guess we get to toot our own horn for a bit. On February 11, 2011, The AAF | Mid-Missouri (the Mid-MO chapter of the AAF) hosted the 2010 ADDY Awards.

Missouri Grand Prix Swimming Competition Website

The 2011 Missouri Grand Prix is the fifth annual swim competition held in the Aquatic Center at the University of Missouri. World-renowned athletes like Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Natalie Coughlin will be coming from all over the US to compete. With that in mind, the Missouri Grand Prix came to us for a website befitting this Olympic precursory event.

Using the WordPress Content Management System, we were able to give the customer the full control and flexibility they needed to instantly update their content as new information came in. We customized the system to allow them to enter event information, news updates, athlete bios, photos and competition results on the fly. Enjoy the animated crab that shows you snapshots of the house and the unique treasure map feel of the site.

When a user visits the page, we pull live weather information from Yahoo’s weather RSS feed, and then we parse out the information we want to display.

Once the information is parsed, we compare to a database of images and weather types and then show an appropriate icon for the weather type. We use tango icons, because they have transparent backgrounds and are a higher resolution than the Yahoo images in the feed. This provides a better look and a more site-specific integrated feel to the weather portion of the page.

When Yahoo throws us a wrench, and we don’t have an icon for the weather type, the system immediately sends us an email and are able to go in and associate the appropriate icon for the weather type. We have some defaults in place, but sometimes you just don’t know; for instance, they added ‘Strong Thunderstorms’ and then ‘Wind/Rain’.

We’re waiting for ‘hurricane’ to be added as well.

An all new Callaway Bank web presence went live this week at http://www.callawaybank.com. Delta Systems was hired to create a fresh, clean, updated website for the bank as well as provide secure hosting. A third party will also be updating the online banking portion of the website in the weeks to come.

The site features

• A branch and ATM locater that incorporates the use of Google Maps
• Search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to allow Google, Yahoo, etc to find content quickly and index it properly.
• An EV-SSL certificate which is designed to ensure an extra level of trust when viewed from Internet Explorer or Firefox
• 5 different homepage graphics that are randomly displayed during subsequent site visits
• Google Analytics statistics collection and reporting
• An easy to use content management system (CMS) so the client can add/edit pages as well as the content on those pages.
• A blogging system that the marketing department will use to update the list of currently available promotions and possibly update interest rates on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis
• An internal, password protected newsletter that employees can now publish

In addition to that. . .

• The site was tested for use in IE7, IE6, Firefox, and Safari browsers.
• “301 Redirects” were put into place to avoid dead links while search engines re-index the website

Delta Systems delivered the site on schedule and on budget.

Putting the site live was intentionally delayed for 2 weeks by the client due to this crazy stock market and financial crisis.

Computer and Cell Phone Recycling

Mid-MO Recycling is a State of Missouri, DNR Level 1 Recycling Center.

The launch of the site precedes the February 2009 cutover to digital television. As Randy Wright commented in Media Matters, Mid-MO Recycling can help properly dispose of old televisions.

Delta’s relationship with Mid-MO Recycling goes beyond this simple website. Delta comes across a lot of outdated and replacement computers, servers, and network hardware while performing their duties as the outsourced IT department for several dozen companies in Mid-Missouri. Delta chooses to recycle that equipment through the services at Mid-MO Recycling.

The Welcome Home Greeting Program is a way for businesses to specifically target people who have recently moved into a new home. This company has a bright future as it grows a national sales force.

Delta Systems is also building the online advertising sales and commission tracking system to allow sales representatives from around the country to quickly and easily submit graphics and information about ads they have sold to businesses in their area. These ads will end up in a printed mailer and online.

The good people at the Business Times Company electronically delivered the latest issue of the CBT to Delta in PDF, printer ready format. Delta then publishes the PDF and dumps graphics and stories into WordPress to get the individual stories properly indexed by Google News and a myriad of search engines. The official publication date is every other Saturday. The online issue is set to automatically go live at 5:00pm on the Friday before the day of publication since print copies start arriving in mailboxes on Friday.

Everything you see on that site is database driven – no human layout is required for each issue – it is automatically handled by the system and all stories in each issue are pushed live simultaneously and automatically.

Articles started appearing in Google News within 7 minutes of them being posted. Not too shabby.
