If your Dlink DGL-4xxx series gamer lounge router stopped working this week it is probably because the device has the “check for firmware update” option checked.

It appears that D-Link took that webpage down on October 2nd, 2013 at about 3:00pm Central Time. So now your router tries to check for an update, but there is no website that is listening. And the router hangs.

To allow your router to function again, you must uncheck the firmware update checkbox.

Firmware Check Hangs DLink Router

You will want to UNCHECK the “automatically check online for latest firmware version” and “email notification of newer firmware version” checkboxes.

You must have the WAN port unplugged before you do this, otherwise you will not be able to access the web interface.

This issue applies to any DGL series router from D-Link. Ours was a DGL-4500. Thanks to portforward.com for the router configuration screenshot.

We hope that helps.  Please let us know if we need to update this post.
